What should be the real minimum wage? When I started out at my present job I was paid $9 an hour. That was a big time starting wage. Still a bottom feeder wage. But when you are looking for work in a bad economy you take what you can get.
The thing with the minimum wage is that it is tied into many other things. So many people that are getting minimum wage jobs have a lot of entitlements. So that just means they will work less hours to get the same money and not go over the amounts to loose the entitlements. Most people do not think about that.
If you are getting section 8 housing, WIC, SNAP (food stamps), and every other kind of assistance you can only make so much money working. And you do not want to go over that risking loosing the free stuff.
They say that there was a lot of jobs created in the last couple of months. But these jobs were like bartender, waitress and waiter jobs. No high pay. Not counting their income so they get nothing for Social Security.
The big manufacturing union jobs seem to be about gone. Let us fix the minimum wage at $10 or $11. Let us do better at universal health care.
People need to start having a bit more pride in their work. I started working for other in 1975. I can never remember a time when everybody hated their job and just do the very least they can to get by. Why do we all hate our jobs? Especially when they are so hard to come by. I do not mind working. And I think that there are a lot of people that do not mind working. But they are being brought done mentally by slackers that have the mind set to do the least amount. Where at the same time know how to cover themselves. People see so many others getting something for nothing and hate it.
I am not very smart I guess.

What Should Be The Minimum Wage?

Fishing For Fun
About eight months ago I go an thought about going fishing on my off days. I had an old Zebco 202 laying around. Completely shot. Twelve years old laying around in the Florida outdoors without use.
One day I am at Walmart. So I wondered over to the sporting goods department. I picked up a Zebco 202 combo kit for about $17. It came with a rod, reel and some hooks and lures. I am back into the fishing business. Although I did not catch anything I was fishing.
The next time I am at Walmart I was looking for more suitable bait. As the water I fish in is brackish. I had no idea of what kind of fish caught for the first time. It was a snook. Looked like some kind of bass to me. Gave a good fight. Put it back into the water.
Another Walmart run. Went to the counter with another rod and reel. The guy said forget that one. I have a $50 rod and reel I will sell you for $20. I'm in. Only it did not have any line. I have to buy line. Bought some line and spooled it up.
Then of course you have to have lures. Got a few of those. When I started fishing got into it. I have a few lakes in my complex and two rivers within walking distance. that makes it nice when you can just walk off the patio to a lake. Haven't really caught much and released what was caught.
The state of Florida has a great website that is a big help with the types of fish and size limits and so forth. As I had no clue. The Internet is also helpful with the types of bait.
I it a good thing that I do not have to survive off the fish I catch or don't catch would be a better term. As I would be very hungry.
The next thing is to buy magazines about fishing. About 90% advertising and the rest about these high end fishing trips on $200,000 boats. Nothing about the bottom feeding guy that gets a $20 rod and reel from Walmart.
As time went on I started seeing a lot of other people out fishing. I guess it became the thing to do. Old, young, women and men. A fad. Everyone was fishing. You go to Walmart and they were cleaning out their fishing gear. I ended up getting a couple of more rods and reels and bait. Still catching a few things and throwing them back.
So that is fishing for fun.
