Why Are Food Prices Still Rising With Oil As Low As It Is?
It seems like every week when I get groceries the prices go up. Fuel prices are going down. Which was the reason for groceries going up in 2009. Why?

Start Saving Just Five Dollars A Day
If a person would just save five dollars a day That adds up to one hundred and fifty dollars a month. Which is eighteen hundred dollars a year.
I did this regularity in the 1980s. I would take a five dollar bill and throw it into a drawer every day. At the end of the month I could take the $150 to the bank. That however was when you actually got some interest on your savings.
Nowadays you cannot think about the interest or lack there of just putting money in the bank when for you really need it. For an emergency.
This is easy to say for someone who makes a lot of money. Also in this day of debit cards is not as if you will have cash on you.
The best way to do it then is to take out $75 out of you weekly check. Knowing that $35 is already spent. Leaving you with $35 to spend for the week. With that extra $5 or you.

Still Up In The Air About Smart Vs Flip Phone
I have been kicking around for about a year to going back to a flip phone. Why does someone who fries chicken in a grocery store need a high tech phone?
When we are making our monthly budget, ten or twenty dollars here and there add up. So if I could take $30 a month off my outlay it should help. For some people the smart phone is their only access to the Internet. So it does make sense for those people to have on. If you are having to being entertained in many places it is of value. Social media and streaming are big uses of a smart phone. if you do not have a laptop or home computer the smart phone is almost a need.
If you have a computer at home, do not stream, do not do social media, can live without downloaded music do you need a smart phone?
A phone used for phone calls and text messages can all be done with a flip or other dumb phone. They hold a charge for a long time. The phone call sound is just as good or better. If one is just kind of behind the modern curve of fashion the flip phone will do it for you. Then you can be an iconoclast in the modern world.
In shear money my smart phone runs about $60 a month through a major provider. A flip phone with 750 minutes and 350 texts runs $27.50 through a secondary provider (one that uses a primary carriers network). I have not experienced any service problems. At least in the area where I live.
I was able to find a plan with the company I have that gives unlimited minutes, unlimited texts, Wi-Fi only Internett with no data. It runs $30. Probably more like $37.00 after taxes and fees. The rep from the carrier could or would not give me a total monthly fee. This is what they call a prepaid plan. I had to cancel my other plan. Pay the monthly fee for the prepaid. They said they would mail a check to me for a pro-rated amount for this month month that was already paid. Also had to set up an other account on the website as the old account was voided and this is considered a new account.
So we will see what happens over the next thirty days.

2016
Another new year has begun. I really didn't hear anyone talking about New Years resolutions. Didn't hear anything about it on TV or the Internet. Maybe I just missed it. Couldn't think of anything myself. Only to try harder to make it a good year.
What is a good year? Good health. Reasonable happiness. Living within your means. No major mess ups like accidents or appliance failures resulting in expenses that exceed your budget. Eliminating most if not all debt. Doing what you can with the things that you can control.
Then there are of course things that you cannot control. National and world events. Natural disasters. Random acts of violence.
Do you ever see anyone without anything in our country. But everyone wants to push it to the next level. Not content. If you are content you can be accused of not wanting to get ahead. A lazy person. Content and lazy are not the same thing. A content person can work hard. While a lazy person may not be content.
As individuals we are conditioned from birth to want more. The latest and greatest. This mentality gets one in debt and can cause unwarranted unhappiness. Look at other cultures around the world. They have little impact on others while being content.
If everyone was content however we would have none of the modern conveniences we all know and love. We would still be in the stone age. Some people are born with a superlative talent of some sort. 99.9% of us are not. A person has to play the hand they are dealt.
A 1980s attitude for people would be great. People were not all cut up into little groups that were stereotyped to as how they should act and look. Everyone was pretty cool. We need to try this again. Everyone would be happier.
