As my father has been in the hospital for the last month I have been having to travel to Tampa again. Every area seems to be the same. Doctors offices, food stores, gas stations, drug stores, and fast food. Sure there are other places too. But everything is redundant.
I people walking around in the middle of the day. I see people riding bicycles. Not for leisure I would assume. It would appear that we are in a poor state. On the other hand, why are they building all these new sub divisions? Homes from $300,000. Who can afford them?
What is going on? You have about half of the workforce out of a job. Twenty five percent employed. The other twenty percent under employed. So who is making the money? A person can barely get by on $15 an hour. And it is just beyond the pale at minimum wage. At or near minimum wage you have to live with someone at nearly for free. How can you have a car? Probably not. A basic phone maybe. Chances are no medical insurance. I wonder about health insurance because when I was between insurances I went to the health department clinic. Which charged you based on the ability to pay. Verifying your income with a pay stub and having a discount pharmacy on site. It was a good service but when I needed an x-ray I had to go the the local hospital and got a bill from them.
I may be and often am wrong but I thought that if you did not have health insurance or an ability to pay you went to the health department clinic. So I do not know why we need the Affordable Care Act. I also checked the marketplace and you were supposed to be eligible for a discount if you made up to $40,000. Well I certainly am in the up to category. And guess what? I did not qualify. Because I have a company sponsored plan available that does not exceed 9.25 percent of my income. Some open market there. I guess if my name was Gomez I would qualify.
Getting back to the businesses I see, do you not see a nail salon in every strip shopping area? Guess you need to get your nails done as your getting your food on EBT on your way to the tattoo parlor before you go to the free phone place on your way home to watch TV.
