Today almost everyone can have a lot. But simply have to settle for what would not be considered the best. This extends across the board in all aspects of life.
Take where you live for instance. Most of us have a place to live. May not be the best, but a place to live none the less. The home may not be furnished with the best furniture, appliances, flooring, bathroom, bedroom etc. But you have one. And chances are there are a lot of people in other places that would trade their AK-47 for what you have (I have never been able to figure out people who live in places that are starving, without water or anything have an AK-47).
How do you get around? Some have cars, trucks or motorcycles. Some ride a bicycle or walk. Some take a form of public transportation or a combination of all. Do you have the best? Doubt it. As just when you think you do something later and greater comes out. You will never get ahead of that game. Even the rich and famous cannot.
The food you eat and how much affects your health. So you may not be able to by the best beef and lamb out there. At this time I find that smoked sausage, Polish sausage, chicken gizzard, livers and hearts fit into my budget. Ground turkey and turkey bacon also works well. Hey it is meat. How about vegetables? How about them. Canned and frozen are the least expensive to buy and keep a long time. They are expensive too. Try growing your own. I have tried growing some vegetables and have found it frustrating in Florida. It is either too hot, too many bugs, not quite hot enough, and countless other things. And certainly not free. I will however try again.
Home furnishings. Almost all my furniture is hand me downs or the cheap Walmart stuff you have to put together yourself. Won't make Better Homes and Gardens, but gets the job done. It seems I have always had Hot Point appliances. The bottom of the appliance food chain. At least they are made in Louisville, Kentucky. Not abroad. So someone is getting paid something to make them. Not as cool as the top line brands on the cooking shows I like. As with entertainment and computers. Again pretty much the bottom line, out of date. Purchased at discount stores or yard sales.
Clothing can be purchased from thrift stores and ebay. Buying new only for undergarments and shoes. Don't need to Jos. Bank making 25,000 a year do we? A lot of things can be mixed and matched according to the season and occasion. Getting a lot of wear mileage out of less clothes. If your size doesn't fluctuate that much they can last nearly a life time.
Today we can have things that kings and queens could not imagine a
hundred years ago. And we are not even a king or queen. Hardly a citizen!
Most of the time there is a difference in quality between a high end product and a one of lower stature. Many times a brand of a product earned the higher price because a reputation of quality. Making it most desirable but less attainable to the masses. We however forget that we are part of the masses. Not the exclusive. The high end products set the standard. After and sometimes not after the other manufacturers copy the standard. Kind of like the Korean car companies spend their life trying to be like the Japanese. And the Japanese spend their life trying to be like the Germans.
So you have a ride, a crib, a stove, water, a TV, a computer, clothes, shoes and food to eat. You are blessed.
