Tomorrow I plan on having a day of zero spending. By that I mean that I will not go out and buy anything or spend any money whatsoever. Given a certain amount of money is being spent anyway in the form of rent, utilities, interest on loans. What I am talking about here is fresh spending.
What I eat and drink will come from what is already at home. No running to the store for this and that. No buying stuff online or ebay (which is online). No gas. Although I ride a bike that is easy. No snacks, candy bars, something I may want to eat what I do not already have at home. A Zero spending day. The one exception will be the change for the coin laundry I use. Can't get around that as it is my laundry day.
My favorite blogs speak of zero spending days. They are Trent Hamm's The Simple Dollar
Also Leo Babauta's Zen Habits
I read their blogs on a regular basis and suggest you give them a try too. Over the years I have gotten a lot of ideas and knowledge from them. As well as a considerable amount of entertainment.
So what do you do on a day of zero spending? You do a lot of things that you say that you are going to do but get side tracked. I really need to clean my carpet. But I guess I will just go to the store instead. Since you have to eat from what you have on hand this is a good day to clean out the fridge and pantry. You might just find that great piece of steak that has been hiding under all the other stuff in the freezer. When did I buy those tomatoes, okra and corn. I have mushrooms too. Wait! I found some spaghetti that has been in the cupboard since Bush was President (just kidding). Guess what? I found some frozen ground beef and pasta sauce. I can make spaghetti and garlic toast. Wait, I have no garlic toast. I do however have bread and garlic. May not be as fancy but may turn out OK. Then I can have some great leftovers for my lunch as I work the weekends. Win win here.
How about those lawn and garden things you have been meaning to do? Most anything that you need to do in your lawn and garden only require time and effort on your part. You already have the tools and most of the time the supplies to perform most tanks. But do not try and cheat and you will run somewhere to get that thing that you need and end up stopping a a fast food place and just getting a burger.
You can talk to your family and friends on the phone as most of of phone calls are free (or included in the package). You can talk to your neighbors on an analog basis. You know, face to face. Maybe even meet someone new. My apartment complex has a fitness room and two swimming pools. And I do not use them.
Take a nice hot bath. Try Dr. Bronner's 18-in-1 Hemp Peppermint Pure-Castile Soap. It will cleanse your body and soul. Cut your own hair. I have cut my own hair since 2008. With about the same results as I could get at a barber shop. There is just not that much to work with. As if there was any way. It is more of a pampering thing than anything. Clip your nails. Trim your eyelashes. When you get older do you notice that the hair in your ears grows faster then the hair on your head? Floss and bleach your teeth.
There is not anything that bad about watching TV. My old shows are available on broadcast TV. No need for cable. Listen to the radio. Read a book.
Clean out your closets and put things you no longer use up for donation. I rounded up about fifty dress shirts that I no longer use. Just taking up space. Donated then to the Salvation Army.
Take a walk or bicycle ride. You would be surprised as to what you notice. If you drive a car the things just whirl by. When walking or biking things are so much more up close. You will notice the little things like when you were a kid.
Well tomorrow is today. So I cannot spend any money. But still have a great day!

No spending for a day helps but government spending billions
We need to build "Great Wall of China" or live totally off the grid away from the government
