What Is The Big Deal When They Want An ID To Vote?

What is all the fuss about showing an ID to vote? I have voted in every Presidential election since 1980 and can not every remember not showing an ID. I had to show an ID to regester to vote. I have to show an ID when I go to the doctor. I have to show an ID to get a presription. I had to show an ID when I got a cell phone. Do you not need to show an ID to get medicare or medicade? I think they do it so you are crossed off the list as voting. Also so you are at the correct polling place. I thought every adult had to have a state ID anyway even if it's not a drivers license. Make a state ID a requirement like medical insurance. Then make them so cheap or even free. Then there is no excuse not to have one. Case closed.
