How do you get around? Most of us have to count on some sort of machine to get around. The vast majority use automobiles. Some use motorcycyles. Others bicycles. Or just walk. The mode you have to incorporate has a lot to do with distance.
Over the last five years I have been able to do the most of my commuting on a bicycle. This makes me one of those weid people you see riding a bicycle on the road as you pass by in your automobile. I am lucky though as my commute is only about four miles. Over the last four years I have only put 1500 miles on my automoblie.
I have found that a lot of people have to drive somewhere, anywhere to feel that they can get their day fulfilled. A lot of times it has nothing to do with a job or any necessity. Just getting out. That is why we as a nation burn so much energy. Take a look at where and when you drive. Is it a necessity? Waste not, want not.
I am the "pot calling the kettle black" here in the past. At one time I had a "89 Chevy Blazer, a "03 S10 pickup, a '06 Miata, and a motorcyle in my barn at the same time. Still never racking up over 3000 miles a year on them all. Plus the cost of insurance and tags. Many of those miles where from people who borrows my machines to do something with. Did I get anything but an empty gas tank, a few dents and scracthes, and a shallow thank you? No. Again, I was the "cool" dummy to get something from.

I Wish I Figured It Out Sooner
Moving toward the autum of life (or late summer) I am realizing things wishing I did years before. Being forced to change my lifestyle because of a change of occupation and income things become apparant. How much time and money have I wasted over the years? Hate to add it up. This is not a video game. Game over, no reset. What is done is done and therefore behind us.
As time goes on your ability to recover from injury or mistakes lessens. Ever fall and take a long time to feel better? This is the way it goes. I have pains in places that I didn't even know I had places. This is getting old. I find it funny though that the young people that I work with are always complaing about hurting or being tired. I say "wait till you get older and see how you feel".
The structure of life has changed a bit in the last thirty years. And changed from the thirty years before that. But the core has remained the same. Being pragmatic is tantamont to being politically incorrect. Being practical is not the norm. What's up with this? We are deemed by the government as consummers. That makes me feel like some kind of livestock. But livestock in a nice pen! We as a nation have a pretty good life. In the middle ages, did kings and queens have running water, heat, air, bathrooms?
I used to spend a lot of money on clothes, cars, motorcycles, housing, eating out, running around, golf, hobbies, bars, girls, friends, tobacco, booze, and other stuff. It is gone now. Water under the bridge. How much do you spend now?
One reason I spent so much money was that I wanted to be a part af the picture. There was something that I was missing. I did not want to miss out. There is something going on that I want to be part of it. You do things for people. They do things for them. That is how it works. Right. How many times has someone done something for you that you did not realize? How many times have you done "somethng" for someone and you didn't ever get a responce?

Day to Day As A Low Wage Earner
Hello folks. I am trying to get this blog off the ground. I guess that I need to have something interesting to say to get a following. I wrote some decent essays in elementary, high school and college. Hopefully I can pick up the torch and carry on now.
I work at a major grocery store. I have a job that is a lot more demanding than I bargined for. I thought that people that do not make much money didn't do much either. I was wrong. So hard work doesn't mean that you make more money. I also work for an hourly wage. I haven't done that since the early eighties. This means a few different things. Someone that doesn't work as hard or do as much can make more money than you do because they have a higher wage rate. This is antagonizing because for several years of working on commision or work the harder or faster made more money. This system lets the slackers look busy without really being effective or productive. You can just get by with doing the least amount. Get paid. Leave whatever needs to be done to the rest. Making them "it" as far as finnishing a project or task and go home laughing at the dummies you stuck.
Previously I could touch, feel, see, talk to or run with my employers. In the corporate world of layers of hierarchies this is moot. You have one of many supervisors (of which I have had without a high school diploma) who are generally only interested in their own best interest. It is not right, wrong or indifferent. Just cover your a##. Things are only important when they are brought to the spotlight. They mess with your routine. Throw you off. The companies are so afaid of being sued. Pick the lowest fruit. Stick the dummies. Come out ahead at the end.
The major thing for me (and I am still fighting it) is to forget about it. Let your conscious be your guide. People that are used to it Know how to work the system. Companies have worked it into the plan. Don't be a dummy like me and get upset about it. Fighting windmills.

Exciting Weekends
Hello.. Another excitintg weekend. Worked Friday, Saterday, and Sunday night. This keeps me from getting out and having fun. But what is fun anyway? I guess that I have a low threashold for excitement. This is good. It fits into my budget.
If Disney, LasVegas, other theme parks, casinos, festivals, fairs, concerts, malls etc. were waiting on me for revenue they would be shut down. I do not even watch the Superbowl. Well I am at work anyway.

Gas, Work and Fun
Gas is pushing $4.00 a gallon here in Florida. I see people feeding their cars. I see a lot of traffic. People will buy gas no matter what I suppose. The main reason I hate to see gas go up is that is has a ripple effect on the produsts we need to buy. Food mostly. Luxury items won't change much. Because only the ones can afford them will still buy. The staples will go up because we have to buy them.
Where do people work and what do they do? A lot of people have suffered in the last several years with the economy. Some people have not I guess. I see a lot of high end vehicles running about. So they must be making money somewhere. But where? A mystery to me. I am not that smart. Some may have it figured out. Maybe they are drawing from a well. Will that well run dry? I should just be happy that I have my little job and do the best I can with it. Look at what you do and if you are happy with it overall. You may not be able to have everything that you want. Who does? Make the best of what you have.
Fun. How about it. How do we have fun. Are you having fun now or waiting for the weekend. After several years of having to work every weekend you learn to have fun when and where it is. Big things, little things. Taking a cruise or working in your yard. Bars, cars, restuarants, stores, whores, kids, bikes, gyms, sports, hobbies, crafts, yard sales, cooking, hanging out, staying in. You name it!

Getting Started
I am breaking new ground here. I hope to be able to provide the public with some interesting information. Also with some insight to just being me. I will provide you with stories and observations. Also there will be opinions. These will not be right or wrong. Just views, experiences, life lessons and hopefully fun and amusing too.
Over the years, I have come to read many blogs on a regular basic. Faithfully. What I have read has helped and amused me. It has saved money. Changing my ways to survive a troubled economy. Being a better person. Realizing that you cannot change the past, but only alter the future. No one can be the best. Only kinda.
Over time people have many life experiences. Some good. Some bad. Some neutral. We all have a story to tell. To help others and ourselves. Or to take advantage of others and ourselves.
The first thing is to accept reality. It is what it is. I may want to be something that I am not. I cannot change that. We are dealt a hand in life. How we play that hand is up to us. All we can do is be the best, kinda.
Some of the little things we can change. The big things we can't. I can be nice to others. But I cannot be a handsome movie star or sports person.
So let's have some fun here. No holds barred.
